Mount Zero Olives : Black Olive Tapenade 200 g : Sunshine West, VIC, Australia.
Planted in the 1940's, The Mount Zero Olive Grove is one of oldest olive groves in Australia. It was purchased in 1993 by Jane and Neil Seymour with dreams of a simpler life and together with their son Richard they have built a brand over the past 20 years based on respect to the environment and the people of the region. The grove is Demeter certified Bio-dynamic and is self-sustaining in its farming practices - feeding the trees directly from the soil rather than chemical inputs and the energy supply is sourced from off-grid wind and solar generators. Their black olive tapenade is made from three classic ingredients - olives, anchovies and capers. However strong individually, these ingredients blend as one to provide a delicious olive condiment.
Barefoot Farm : Maple Roasted Pecan 130g : Byron Bay Hinterland, NSW, Australia.
Barefoot Farm is the story of two chefs with a shared paddock to plate passion who became farmers. Ash and Matt planted their first Market Garden together while living in a worn-out bus near Nimbin in the Byron Bay hinterland. Following organic farming principles, they hand-cleared two acres of overgrown farmland to raise free range chickens and pigs and grow vegetables which they turned into dips, pickles, fermentations, sauces and spreads for sale at the local markets. Wanting to expand, they took over a pecan farm in the nearby pristine Eltham Valley. The pecan orchard is managed biologically, without pesticides, and with a focus on natural fertilisation and soil management. Of all the tree nuts, pecans have some of the highest content of antioxidants, including Vitamin E, which is good for a healthy immune system. Gluten free, vegan, paleo, natural, no nasties, high protein, low sodium. The Maple Roasted Pecans are a sweet and light snack.
